Description

The Banff International Research Station will host the “Emerging Statistical Methods for Digital Health Data” workshop in Banff from February 23 - 28, 2025.


Smartphones, activity trackers, and wearable sensors are generating vast amounts of digital health data that hold promise for transforming medical research and healthcare. However, analyzing these complex, high-volume, real-time data streams also poses major statistical and computational challenges. The workshop will serve as a much-needed in the post-COVID era platform for bringing together internationally recognized experts and junior researchers to collaboratively develop new generation statistical methods specifically tailored to handle challenges of digital health data. Novel statistical methods will play a pivotal role in advancing the field of digital health data field and ensuring its responsible use for improving human health and medicine.


The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada’s Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), and Alberta’s Advanced Education and Technology.
