Description

The Banff International Research Station will host the "International Graduate Training Centre in Mathematical Biology Summit" workshop from to .

The International Graduate Training Centre (IGTC) is an organizing centre for graduate training in mathematical and computational biology across the BC and Alberta universities, through student fellowships and support of student-oriented activities such as summer schools and conferences. We are currently supported by the Pacific Institute for Mathematical Sciences, and mPrime. A core activity of the IGTC is the annual graduate student summit. This year we are applying to hold the summit at BIRS. This year's summit will include: (i) professional development activities; (ii) opportunities for students to present their original research and receive feedback from faculty members and peers from across the network; (iii) technical instruction and research presentations by invited speakers.

The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT).
